Job Title: Program Coordinator – Wanaag Project

Status: 1 Year contract with possibility of extension (Programs is funded for 3 years)
Hours: 21 hours/week

Job Summary:
The Somali Centre for Family Services (SCFS) is seeking a dedicated Program Coordinator to
lead the implementation of the Wanaag Project. This initiative provides culturally appropriate
and trauma-informed mental health support for African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) youth,
with a focus on the Somali community. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for
coordinating counseling sessions, conducting community outreach, and fostering partnerships to
support the program’s success.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Program Coordination
- Plan and oversee weekly group counseling sessions and workshops.
- Manage program logistics, including supplies, transportation, and venue preparation.
- Ensure services are delivered in a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed manner.
Community Engagement
- Conduct outreach to engage ACB youth and families, with a focus on the Somali
community.
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community centers, and local
organizations.
- Organize community awareness events to promote mental health resources.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Organize community awareness events to promote mental health resources.
- Track program participation and outcomes.
- Collect feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and inform improvements.
- Prepare reports for funders and stakeholders.
Eligibility:
- Single persons earning up to $30,000.
- Strong understanding of Somali culture and the unique needs of ACB youth.
- Proficiency in English and Somali is required.
- Experience in program coordination, community outreach, or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Background in mental health, social work, or community services is an asset
Additional Requirements:
- Participate in all training, information sessions, and staff meetings.
- Must be able to submit a criminal record check
